Substance Use Disorder - Certified Peer Counselor

Position Location: Colville (1.0FTE), Davenport (0.5FTE), and Republic (0.5FTE)

DUTIES: The Substance Use Disorder - Certified Peer Counselor's primary responsibility is to provide Peer Support Services to clients enrolled in the NEWACS SUD Treatment Program. This includes providing activities that promote recovery, self-advocacy, development of natural supports, and maintenance of community living skills for individuals with substance use disorders; sharing one's own recovery stories that are relevant and helpful in overcoming the obstacles faced by individuals and families; and promoting client independence/ rehabilitation/recovery to prevent homelessness, crises, avoidable inpatient treatment episodes, and other negative outcomes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have lived experience, defined as a past recipient of substance use disorder treatment services, and be in active recovery for a minimum of 12 full months, and able to provide appropriate Peer Support Services without impairing one's ability to remain in ongoing, stable recovery. Must obtain state certification as a Certified Peer Counselor and Agency Affiliated Counselor-registration within 6-months of hire. High school graduate or GED required. Must have good written & oral communication skills and be able to complete administrative & clinical records. Computer literacy required - clinical software used. Abstract of driving record for past three years required. Satisfactory criminal history backgrounds check results are a condition of employment.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Annual salary $52,344-$70,272. Full time employees (> 0.75 FTE) receive $1000 per month for enrollment in company medical, dental, and vision as well as employer paid life insurance with voluntary plan options, Washington State Retirement Plans, and deferred compensation plans, 12 paid holidays per year and start at 12 hours of paid time off per month.
